This Alfredo sauce is so easy to make. And the best part: once you make the homemade version, you won’t want to buy the store-bought kind . . . it’s that good!
The sauce may also be made ahead of time. This works out well for when you need to make a pasta dish to take to a party or gathering because the sauce may be made the day before, and stored in the refrigerator until needed.
I recommend not adding any salt until the end because the Parmesan cheese will add plenty of seasoning. If it comes out thicker than you prefer, you may add more milk to thin it out. Serve it over Fettuccine or any other pasta, and dinner's done in no time!
ALFREDO SAUCE
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
4-5 garlic cloves, minced
8 ounce cream cheese
3 cups half & half
6 ounces shredded Parmesan cheese (not grated)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 30- 60 seconds until just fragrant.
2. Stir in the half and half, then the cream cheese and garlic powder. Turn heat down to medium low and continue to stir until sauce thickens.
3. Mix in shredded Parmesan cheese and adjust taste with salt and pepper.
